Dorel Car Seat Recall

The Dorel Car Seat Recall involves close to 800,000 Units of Dorel's Safety 1st, Eddie Bauer, Disney, Cosco and other models. They have been recalled by the manufacturer due to a faulty harness adjustment strap. The manufacturing period spans from May 1, 2008 to April 30, 2009. A wide range of booster, convertible and infant seats are covered in this recall. Some of these units are sold as part of a stroller travel system, which were made by the Dorel Juvenile Group of Columbus, Ind.

After receiving several consumer complaints, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began an investigation last year on Dorel's restraining straps on the seats. Consumers complained that the restraining straps on the seats had loosened. Dorel however claimed that there has been no injuries or deaths reported due to this problem. It further said that there has not been any reports of the center front adjuster failing in real world crashes.
