Japan Earthquake Today - 7.2 magnitude

An earthquake measuring 7.2 in magnitude occurred approximately 440 km to the North East of Tokyo at about 11:45 Japanese local time. It was centered at around 150 km off the north east coast and the epicenter of the quake was reported to have been at about a depth of about 7 miles.

A tsunami warning was immediately issued. An emergency and disaster response talk person in Iwate confirmed that indeed a small tsunami hit the shores but no damage have been confirmed or reported. Shortly after the main quake, another 6.3 magnitude aftershock was also recorded.
